This is a ballad about love, hate, and a search for a way out of loneliness. A dramatic story from the setting of a youth de tention center. Youngster Jakub, out of delusory solidarity, gets convicted of theft and goes to prison in place ofthe "sheriff" of his gang. He naively hopes that the sheriff will appreciate his gesture and leaves the stolen goods in a safe hideaway to later divide them fairly among the gang members. This conviction gives Jakub the strength to endure the unbearable conditions in the center. But reality is often much harsher than naive ideals and hollow relations in the gang.

The film could have been a lyrical evocation of the ČSSR's first generation: the youngsters born during the war, who grew up in a state violently at pains to find and define itself, and were now ready to break away from the nation-builder ethics of their elders – but Grečner turned it into an anxiety-riddled existentialist vision of a whole globe in fear.

Начальник лагеря смерти Вальтер Крафт, в прошлом боксер, желая развлечься, решает устроить боксерский матч. Своим противником он выбирает истощенного, полуживого заключенного Яна Каминека, в прошлом тоже боксера. На тренировках гитлеровец жестоко избивает своего противника. Озлобленный Крафт собирается убить Яна, но по совету своей возлюбленной Хельги решает расправиться с ним иначе: он организует побег Яна, вероломно обещая ему, что никто из заключенных не пострадает за это. Будучи уже за пределами лагеря, Ян слышит лагерную сирену. Он понимает, что Крафт обманул его. Чтобы предотвратить расправу над заключенными, которых приговорят к смерти за его мнимый побег...

Three soccer fans are determined to do literally anything to get to the soccer match between Czechoslovakia and the famous representation team of Brazil. Reaching their goal to see the dream match live cannot he precluded neither by a sudden work task nor family obligations. However, there is one more obstacle in their way: for some time, their enthusiastic behavior during soccer matches has been monitored by the police. This time, it will not be easy for them to get to the stadium.

Мишо Звара и его друзья переходят на сторону советских войск, но их помещают в лагерь военнопленных. Мишо знакомится с советским офицером по имени Гурам и его сестрой, которая является главврачом санитарного поезда. Мишо гостит в семье Гурама в Сухуми. Словак и грузинка полюбили друг друга, но их пути временно разошлись. Через два года Гурам и Мишо снова встречаются, но теперь в горах Словакии, где немцы ожесточенно сопротивляются наступающим советским войскам.

On this naive and awkwardly narrated fairy tale it is remarkable that it also established the tradition of fairy tale stories in Slovakia. A certain refinement is the framing of the whole story with a puppet show that moves into the played scenes. The film carries out a folk tale of a stupid castle lord who lives in a ruined castle, a fraudulent painter and a lazy shepherd.

Slovak movie is based on the novel by the prominent representative of Slovak prose František Hečka, who was in 1952 awarded the State Prize. The novel and the movie successfully capture the development of Slovak village after the liberation in 1945. The narrative is centred around the characters of the old Púplava, who after the liberation begins to organise a new village life, and his struggle for the construction of settlements Mrzáčky, burnt by the fascists. It is centred around the conflict, greatly reflecting the situation of the countryside at this time: the conflict between the rural poor and the rural rich. In the movie, a rich personal and emotional life of other heroes pulsate besides the main storyline. The movie ends with the final defeat of the reactionary forces by Communists in February 1948, taking over all power in the state of workers and peasants. - "The Wooden Village" is released in celebration of the 7th anniversary of the Communist February Victory.
