Kosta's neighbor
A newly appointed teacher arrives at a remote village school in 1947. The famous journalist and distinguished poet was downgraded for illegal publications and forbidden anti-Soviet verses. Suspicious locals still prefer to test his loyalties, while children wilingly recite his verses from 'To My Soviet Motherland', written under pressure to prase Uncle Lenin. Eventually, an unforgotten friend shows him a secret wintery path to the Dainava resistance platoon's underground bunker.

He has betrayed the ideals of his youth and become a cold observer of life.
Vytas' father
Vytas is a resident of a blocked houses quarter and he is just as dull as his neighborhood. Though the young guy is over his twenties, he still lives with his parents - spending their days watching TV. Vytas' girlfriend Ona is a bit different - she is independent, knows her likes and dislikes, has some friends - one of which she starts seeing more and more often. This leaves no sunshine in Vytas life at all and makes him wander for the truth in the maze of the blocked houses quarter.

Два брата Йозаса, Стасис и Юргис, были убиты, когда они сражались в подполье. Двух других братьев, Антанаса и Винкаса сослали в Сибирь. Отец потерял рассудок из-за гибели сыновей. Йозас Лукша продолжал свою борьбу за свободу Литвы и как представитель подпольного движения на Западе. Здесь же он нашел свою любовь, литовскую девушку, Ниёле и женился на ней. Йозас вернулся в Литву и продолжил борьбу против советской оккупации....
Об одном из первых дальних перелетов в истории авиации. 15 июля 1933 года маленький одномоторный самолет «Литуаника», управляемый литовскими летчиками Стяпанасом Дарюсом и Стасисом Гиренасом, поднялся с территории США и взял направление на литовскую столицу Каунас. Героический полет продолжался 37 часов. Используя примитивные приборы, летчики, преодолев семь тысяч километров, были сбиты над территорией фашистской Германии.
