Banned for over a decade because of its "explicit" sexual situations, when this film was released in Yugoslavia in 1983 the "explicit" scenes had become tame. Other than the notoriety it obtained through censorship, the film has an undistinguished story about the forbidden love affair between the older wife of a sports director and a young athlete.

Memory of the victims of the Kragujevac massacre is described through the events that are related to a group of boys, shoe shiners. At that time, thousands of workers refused to work for the invaders, and the whole city was exposed to harsh repression and persecution of innocent citizens and the abolition of the regular rations of food.

Через двадцать лет после войны перед судом предстает бывшая партизанка Ева Ружич. Её обвиняют в хищении пяти миллионов динар и приговаривают к семи годам тюремного заключения. Следователя не удовлетворяет формальное решение суда, и он продолжает расследование, в ходе которого устанавливает, что истинной причиной преступления оказался страх Евы перед шантажистом Фаркашом. Всё дело оказалось в том, что в годы войны, когда погибла одна группа партизан, усташи приписали это предательство Еве, скрыв истинного предателя. Фаркаш воспользовался этим и долгие годы шантажировал несчастную женщину.
По окончании войны бывший партизан Алеш, потерявший в боях руку, вынужден работать курьером. Мещанская среда, окружающая Алеша, способствует тому, что он становится озлобленным, раздражительным. Однажды в дни праздника, посвящённого освобождению страны, Алеш снова встречается со своими боевыми друзьями и с девушкой, которую когда-то любил. Разговор с ними, а также чуткое отношение некоторых сослуживцев резко меняют судьбу Алеша — он вновь обретает веру в себя, в людей, в жизнь.
A group of partisans goes to destroy a German gas warehouse at Postojnska Jama. One of them grows distrustful towards the new commander, and it spreads among the rest of the squad. The situation culminates when the mentioned partisan remains cut off inside a cave.
When the planes bombed a Slovene town, a Slovene boy and a German girl set on a journey towards the valley, in which there is no war. On their way a black American pilot, who jumped of a shoot-down plane, joins them. Although American planes have killed the boy's parents, he accepts the pilot with enthusiasm. The children communicate with him in German and the valley of peace seems like the last paradise place of refuge. The Slovene boy, the German girl, and the American pilot represent a symbolic triangle of peace in this adventure happening in the middle of the War of Liberation.
