В процессе подготовки к празднованию Рождества обитатели маленького итальянского острова посреди Средиземного моря сталкиваются с серьезной проблемой. На острове уже много лет не рождались дети, поэтому некому сыграть роль младенца Христа в обязательной постановке с поклонением волхвов, а мальчик, который играл эту роль раньше, уже непозволительно большой. Есть, разумеется, вариант — «одолжить» младенца у тунисской диаспоры, но они — мусульмане, поэтому эта идея видится многим не совсем каноничной. И тунисцам, и итальянцам. Когда обсуждение заходит в тупик, монахиня Марта и глава тунисской диаспоры Билал (в прошлом — принявший ислам итальянец) решают взять дипломатические переговоры на себя.

The problem is that he does not even remember who this guy Luigi is. This is just the beginning of a tragicomic day during which he will be plunged into the folly of the world.
