Film is based on "Unified Estonia" which was a fictitious political movement created by NO99 Theatre and a large portion of the public treated as a real political force. Its convention, held for more than 7200 people, was one of the largest theatre events in modern European theatre history.

The Rise and Fall of Estonia is a production by directors Tiit Ojasoo and Ene-Liis Semper. Together they have created large-scale shows already before. "Ruja", a rock-opera, and "Unified Estonia", a convention of a fictitious political movement for 7200 viewers, were not only completely sold out, but also theatre events, which won the major theatre prizes in Estonia. "The Rise and Fall of Estonia" is not a rock-opera. It's not a punk statement. It's a symphony. And it's about Estonia. Together with actors from NO99 they've created over the years four productions, which more or less deal with Estonia and its state of mind.

В конце вечеринки они обнаруживают, что произошло нечто страшное, что изменит их жизнь и их близких. Невообразимая сумма денег теряется. Последующие события приводят к ситуации, описанной режиссером Пуустусмаа: «В катарсисе зритель отождествляет себя с церемонией пейота американских аборигенов - внутреннее я видимо только для себя». Жизни четырех главных героев, которые на первый взгляд кажутся ничем не объединенными, пересекаются и рисуют сводный портрет современного европейского человека.

NO75 Unified Estonia was a fictious political movement created by Theatre NO99 that a large portion of the public treated as a real political force. It lasted 44 days, during which various political technologies were introduced. The project ended with Unified Estonia movement assembly, with more than 7500 people attending. It was one of the largest theatre events in contemporary Europe.

Странная мистерия про чудаковатого старика и немого мальчика. Старик живет на острове-полигоне, который используется советской военной авиацией для тренировочных бомбометаний: после каждого такого налета он по телефону сообщает квадраты, в которые попали бомбы. Еще старик разводит пчел и известен как целитель. Мальчика на остров отправляют по просьбе его матери, после того, как он онемел. А онемел он намеренно, в знак протеста против того, что его мать работает проституткой в передвижных военных борделях. Обнаружив мать с очередным хахалем, сын бросился на нее с ножом, ранил в руку и после этого перестал говорить. Женщина надеется, что старик вылечит мальчика. Вот и живут на острове два одиночества. И обоих мучают воспоминания - старика о годах, проведенных в исследовательской экспедиции в Африке, мальчишку - о том, что он видел дома. Живут до тех пор, пока в результате очередного налета бомбы попадают не туда, куда надо...

When two half-sisters, thirteen-year-old white-haired Sigrid and seven-year-old black-blooded Saara meet for the first time, it turns out that their common grandmother has been taken to a nursing home. The girls come up with the idea to steal him from there and hide him in the attic where they can be with her undisturbed. Everything goes well beyond expectations until drunkards, thugs and extortionists intervene and the girls have to act decisively to escape from them.
