Середина 80-х: порядочный и честный человек, учитель и деятель "Солидарности" Юзеф Козел бросает изменившую ему жену, детей и, опасаясь репрессий, уходит в монастырь. Годы спустя жена случайно узнаёт его на выступлении монастырского хора. За сокрытие семейного положения Юзефа изгоняют из монастыря. Жена из жалости, но не бескорыстно (как-никак - владелец дома) забирает его в новую семью, где Юзеф встречает своих уже взрослых детей. За годы его затворничества сменилась политическая система. Лишь через несколько дней он понемногу начинает ориентироваться в окружающем мире. И что же он видит? Старшая дочь - участница порнографического телешоу: зрители выбрали ей "жениха", с которым она будет неделю жить на глазах миллионов. Сын пиарит в штабе кандидата в депутаты, увязнув в грязных избирательных технологиях. Зависимая от Интернета младшая дочь не может жить без таблеток экстази. Пришедший в себя пан Юзеф решает вытащить детей из болота...

Eight-year old Jerzy returns home at the end of the war to a joyful reunion with his long-lost mother and grandfather. But problems arise as he is taunted by his peers and, longing for his missing father, burns with resentment for his new communist stepfather.

The doctor discovers a case of drunken driving but is silenced by blackmail in the court. He tries to fight back but has a love affair with the unfaithful wife of the town's Mayor.

A moral action drama showing a crisis and breakup of a married couple from the perspective of the both spouses, Roman and Magda. Through flashbacks the film reveals a shocking study of the disintegration of the relationship between two adult people and their gradual dehumanization.

Growing-up village boy Marcin Debik feels bored of existence in his native place and not interested in realizing his father's ideas for living there for ever and making business there. He dreams of living in a big town, making career there and, above all, having foreign automobile, preferably big one and of American make. His determination strengthens after he had accidentally attended some rich society's party for a while. Having finally decided to take his fate in his own hands, he takes leave of his family, his girl and departs for Lublin, the town where his uncle Lukasz runs own photographic studio.
