Belchior

Antonio Carlos Belchior Fontenelle Fernandes (1946-2017) is revealed in a self-portrait that delves into the wild heart of the poet, singer and songwriter from Sobral, Ceará.

Belchior through comments narrates the paths of his life.

A host of personalities reminisce about the life and work of songwriter, lawyer, and congressman Humberto Teixeira — aka "Baião Doctor" — the author of such classic Brazilian popular songs as "Asa Branca". A musical film about the baião, a movement in Brazilian music in the 1940s and 1950s that was later snowed under by samba and bossa nova.

Three children, Cosmic, Luna and Maninho, live in a futuristic world, where lives are totally programmed. One night, while trying to get points to earn a bonus at school, they get lost in space and discover an infinite universe.

Middle-class family reform their apartment, and the noise, the contact with the workers and strange occurrences turn what was supposed to be a trivial matter into a trip to hell.

Recorded in 1973, during the laborious attempt to issue his first album, one of Belchior's various appearances was in the TV Cultura's intimate program "MPB Especial". In it, a still very young, open and relatively angry Belchior (as in the testimonial seen at the end of the program) presented himself to the public through an autobiographical dialogue, proving that the new always comes.
