Death comes to Venice
Camera Supervisor
Under mysterious circumstances, the restorer Lukas Albrecht drowns in the Canale dei Marani in Venice. While the easy-going Commissario Santo sees no criminal offense, the victim's widow resents the details. Anna, who is traveling from Vienna with her eleven-year-old son, doesn't believe it was an accident: her husband didn't have any alcohol in his blood, he knew the lagoon and could swim

Ceschi and Stamm's documentary tells the incredible story of Monika Krause, a former East German citizen, who became Fidel Castro's Sexual Education Minister. After 20 years in Cuba, Krause set the Cuban sexual revolution in motion: in favor of a woman's right to sexual fulfillment and legal abortion, and against exclusion of homosexuals, she acquired the title "Queen of Condoms". A film about potent female agitators, staunch macho men and Caribbean love lives.

Three "Wienerlied" singers, Trude Mally, Poldi Debeljak and Luise Wagner, are among the last folk singers who master the almost forgotten art of "tootling". When they are gone, a bit of Viennese musical tradition will disapear forever with them. Their life stories are one-of-a-kind documents of Viennese folk music.

Main character of this movie is Rene Rupnik, a former math teacher. He is forty years old and lives together with his mother in a desolate block of flats. Ever since his early youth women with big breasts have fascinated him, because they symbolise a kind of earth mother to him. He has never had an especially close relationship with his own mother; she was too 'bony' for him. Object of Rene's fantasy is the actress Senta Berger, to him everything a woman should be. Standing by the blackboard and explaining the mathematical laws of sine and cosine ('sinus' is bosom in Latin), Rene sings the praises of the female curves and those of Santa Berger in particular. Filmmaker Ulrich Seidl let the former teacher speak freely about his obsessions and desires, intercutting his monologues with scenes from the protagonist's day-to-day life.

Every year over a million tourists drive up the Grossglockner road, a major feat of engineering high up in the Alps, in order to gaze in amazement at the contrast between nature and technology, a fact that causes no less amazement to the people who live there. This documentary takes a look behind the picture-book facade of the mountain scenery around the alpine village of Heiligenblut, showing the encounter between the tourists and the people who keep the place going underneath all the holiday euphoria.

The old story with a slight twist: girl meets boy, frozen in stylized monologues, in whirring synthesizers, with the ghostly original sounds and excruciatingly slow camera movements.
