Reminiscences (1909-26), family film by Ouro Preto filmmaker Aristides Junqueira, collection of the MAM-Rio Cinematheque and Brazilian Cinemateca, is unveiled in his stories and points of view in the form of a filmic essay with archive footage, family scenes, interviews and voiceover to tell the unknown biography of a Brazilian film pioneer.

As a young archivist labours on the reassembly of a long-lost film print, her emotional life spirals into a tumultuous state that is mirrored in the degradation of the frames she so painstakingly works upon.
Two years of research and visits to collections, cinematheques and museums; almost seventy interviews that generated 30 hours of recorded material; more than two hundred scanned photos and more than one hundred films watched. In total, more than a thousand hours of work were needed to prepare Brazilian Cinema in the 20th Century. The work is a fascinating journey through all the cinematic cycles that Brazil lived, from the pioneering Belle Époque, through the great studios like Atlântica and Cinédia, Cinema Novo, the urban comedies of the 70's, until the resumption in the late 90's. The documentary is unique, it gives the floor to who really wrote and lived this story intensely.
From a screening of "Antes, o Verão" (1968) in the Cinematheque of the Museum of Modern Artes of Rio de Janeiro, in 2005, "Reencontro com o Cinema" follows the rediscovery of the life and works of filmmaker Gerson Tavares, who hadn't worked with cinema in 30 years.
