«Чу-Чин-Чоу» (оригинальное название фильма, в послевоенном прокате в нашей стране он демонстрировался под названием «Восточная сказка») — это щедрое развлечение с удивительной историей в стиле арабских ночей, исключительным актерским составом, великолепным музыкальным сопровождением и яркой постановкой. Фильм представляет собой музыкальный пересказ приключений Али-Бабы и сорока разбойников. В постановке были представлены роскошные декорации Эрна Метцнера и выдающаяся работа оператора Макса Гринбаума, лучших художников эпохи немецкого экспрессионизма.
