Vassil (41) is a documentary film director who has not achieved the success he dreams of. He puts all his energy filming the broken relationship between a monk and his mother. Meanwhile Vassil's wife and their 14-year-old daughter take second place in his life. The director learns that the monk is in a psychiatry while his mother will have to undergo a cancer surgery. Django is an eleven-year-old gypsy boy who lives with his family in an abandoned trailer near a train railway. Every morning his father jumps onto the train to hitch a free ride into town to look for food and earn money. In the mornings and evenings the father prepares his son to tackle the hardships of the life that are necessary to keep the family alive.

A couple and their teenage son eke out a living on a hilltop, doing the laundry for local hotels, despite the intermittent water supply. Their simple life is overturned by the arrival of a father-and-daughter team of diviner and well-digger, who promise to bring an end to this precarious existence by finding a source on their arid hill. But ultimately, these newcomers quench a thirst far greater than than the simple need for water.

Georgi is a village builder contractor. He's honest and direct. His values and moral system often clash with contemporary society’s. Seen as crazy by some, he is a source of endless aphorisms to others. To live your life with dignity and without compromise in our time is heroic.
