This Hungarian film chronicles the slow deterioration in the life of Juli, a farmer's wife. As the countryside grows ever more deserted because people are moving to towns or large collective farms, she spends more and more time alone. Despite her best efforts to appreciate her situation, her despair grows. The loneliness is briefly interrupted when she and her husband take in an old woman and care for her, but the woman dies. It is the story of Bálint Balassi , the poet and warrior. The scene is Hungary at the end of the 16th century. The soldiers stationed at the castles of Hungary's border defence-system spend their days with anti-Turkish raids, hunting and womanising.

Дворяне сорят деньгами, гуляют, играют в карты, дерутся на дуэлях. Пожилой глава старинного рода женится на молодой и красивой девушке, которая дарит ему наследника. Племянник, наделавший под наследство от еще живого дяди кучу долгов, хочет доказать, что ребенок незаконнорожденный.

Nelli, the icy, introverted farm girl, needs to find a husband following her father's death. She accepts the attentions of the noisy Takaró Sanyi, although she is more attracted to his silent and modest younger brother.

This film of three parts recalls memories from World War II. The titles of the parts are: Impartially, Terrified and Like a scream.

The film depicts the period between 1945-60 through the life of a communist couple. Barna Judit, just released from a concentration camp and Horváth László, with an illegal past are brought together by the communist movement. They study and make plans together in the hope of a future that will make sense. The marriage they just entered, however, gets ruined soon by the events of history.

Huszárik's graduation film was another short entitled Groteszk (Grotesque) in 1963 about a strange train voyage of an artist carrying his own picture.

Koncert is a 1962 Hungarian short film directed by István Szabó. In the film, several beach-goers have a go at playing creating an impromptu concert. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film.
