This story is divided in three chapters. 1) "The Visitor": The drifter writer Tran Thanh Loc arrives in an old house and is lodged by the gorgeous Hoa. Along the days, he falls in love for her and discloses the truth about the hostess. 2) "Only Child": Loc is sick, totally disconnected of the world, but his nurse Linh heals him. He writes the best-seller The Visitor about his relationship with Hoa and becomes a successful writer. He proposes and marries Linh, but when he decides to have a baby, Linh is haunted by her hidden obscure past. 3) "The Diviner": Linh's parents send the fraudulent diviner Lan to use her pretentious knowledge of Feng Shui to help Loc, and she sees ghost in the house. Her son and aspirant writer Bao does not believe on his mother until he finds a surprising secret about Loc.

A young man returns home on the threshold of the Lunar New Year and finds himself a stranger within his own family. The cold silence surrounding the disappearance of his younger sister forces him on a quest for answers. Through his search, we are given a glimpse of the family’s fragmented past. From their perilous escape from Vietnam, to their separation, to their struggle with marred relationships, the family continues to endure the tragedies of false expectations.

Eight guys living in a shoe box sized apartment make a bet to see who gets to keep the apartment and who has to leave. The last person to receive a phone call wins a dump of an apartment.

События фильма разворачиваются в 1975 году, во времена, когда более 134 000 вьетнамцев покинули свою родину и оказались в американских лагерях для беженцев. В одном из таких лагерей в Пендлтоне, расположенного на побережье Южной Калифорнии, и происходят события фильма. Сюжет состоит из переплетения нескольких историй вьетнамских беженцев: маленький мальчик, ждущий появление в лагере своей матери, пара супругов, переживающие не лучшие времена и другие. Объединяет и в то же время очень сильно пугает их всех одно обстоятельство — это неопределенность с будущим. Такой актерский состав привлечет внимание к картине многих любителей кино. Но вместе с тем у вьетнамского режиссера Тимоти Лин Буи получилось неоднозначное кино с неспешным повествование и абсолютно ровным течением событий, без каких-либо ярких и эмоциональных событий.

A sensitive writer from a small town faces spiritual crisis as he tries to make it as a Hollywood screenwriter. Charlie Pontus (Joseph Culp) wanders around Los Angeles torn between his efforts to sell a screenplay and find his next meal. His natural optimism keeps him afloat as he walks the tight-rope between his love for the beautiful, exotic Ylayali (Kathleen Luong) and his desperate connection to The Chief (Robert Culp), the Hollywood producer who has the power to give life or take it away. Stubbornly refusing to relinquish his principles, he sinks deeper and deeper into spiritual crisis, finally confronting God in a Jobian showdown.
