Romantic comedy takes place during a wedding day of a bride-to-be Alex, whose big day keeps falling apart. Her neurotic mother controls every step she makes, her step father investigates a non-existing crime and her biological father, a bohemian owner of the hotel where the wedding takes place, is responsible for a missing groom. Chaos in the hotel suits the charming ski instructor Peter who convinces an introverted hotel guest Klara to help him create the most beautiful dinner date ever.

Два молодых словацких еврея, Фредди и Вальтер, были отправлены в лагерь смерти Освенцим в 1942 году. 10 апреля 1944 после тщательного планирования и при помощи других узников им всё же удаётся сбежать. Пока остальные мужественно стоят на своём, не поддаваясь нацистским офицерам, двое мужчин хранят надежду на то, что доказательства событий, которые у них есть, могут спасти жизни. Усталые и измученные, они пробираются через горы в обратно в Словакию, пересекают границу и встречаются с представителями Красного Креста и передают им подробнейший отчёт о геноциде в лагере. Но сказанное ими настолько ужасно, что люди не могут в это поверить, а отчёт даже не хотят публиковать.

Жизнь в этом регионе никогда не была лёгкой, и для Адама - отца, мужа, сына и руководителя контрабандной преступной группы на пограничной территории - начинаются ещё более тяжелые времена. Ему изменяет деловой партнёр, которому он доверяет больше всех, на границе появляется новый товар - наркотики; после неудачной контрабанды долг опасному криминальному авторитету растёт каждый день. В конце концов нарушается и без того опасный баланс сил, а игроки этой арены оказываются в водовороте абсурдных и страшных событий.
