День летнего солнцестояния – древний праздник, который во всех культурах окутан мистическим ореолом. В отрезанном от цивилизованного мира шведском поселении в этот день проводятся уникальные обряды с многовековой традицией. Именно туда отправляется группа молодых американских студентов-антропологов, прихватив с собой девушку одного из них. Roland, a retired engineer, gets an iPad from his family to keep him updated in the modern digital world. Instead of digital euphoria the new technology breaks him down in to bits. Roland longs for the the world that he understood and for love of his ex wife that still cares about him, but left him when the world was still analogue.

After causing a commotion with his last assignment, Falk has been given a desk job, which hardly agrees with his personality, and he ends up accepting an offer from an old friend to buy into a private investigation agency. Another friend of Falk's, Sven, purchased a business in Estonia, and when local gangsters attempted to pressure him into paying protection money, Sven retained the services of Nikolaus Lehmann, a burly private eye, to throw them off his trail. However, Lehmann does his job all too well, murdering the racketeers, and then threatening Sven and his family. With no where else to turn, Sven asks Falk to help him deal with the crazed Lehmann; Falk agrees, but soon realizes he's dealing with a more dangerous man than he imagined when Lehmann kidnaps Falk's wife Jeanette, and then releases her with a time bomb locked around her neck, demanding that Falk hand over ownership of his detective agency to Lehmann.

The wife and son of an unemployed, foul-tempered man suffer under ever-worsening domestic violence. One day while his father is taking a nap, the young son decides to take matters into his own hands. In a panic, the wife and son both believe the man is dead and dump him on a roadside. The man survives, however, and returns home weeks later confined to a wheelchair probably for the rest of his life. How will each member in the family cope with this new situation?

Inspector Beck and his team get involved in a large-scale smuggling of cesium 133. A gang from the east uses refugees who with a promise to stay in Sweden and with danger to their own life take in the dangerous explosive chemical substance.

When the police reveal a narcotic smuggling the driver is shot dead. It appears that the driver is Superintendent Martin Beck's son. Beck breaks down and moves out of the way. But on his colleagues request he returns.

Out jogging Peter discovers an ongoing rape. He intervenes and neutralizes the rapist who is later taken into custody by the police. Three years later he is on TV being interviewed about his new book about the incident. What he doesn't know is that the rapist was just released from prison and is coming after Peter and his family.
