Соседи уважают их и одновременно боятся. Однажды тут появляется девушка Мири, не знакомая с их строгими порядками и не готовая им следовать. Ави — лидер религиозной группировки — влюбляется в нее и оказывается перед выбором: либо любовь к этой независимой девушке, либо преданность своей «банде» и ее жесткому кодексу.

In the city of Jaffa; a young girl plans to run away with her secret lover, when a tragedy forever changes the course of their lives. Jaffa is a mixed Arabic - Jewish seaside city near Tel Aviv, where Reuven Wolf (Moni Moshonov) has a garage for repairing cars. His wife Ossi (Ronit Elkabetz), a vain, self-centered woman, just makes everybody's life difficult. The couple's daughter, Mali Wolf (Dana Ivgy), has secretly fallen in love with her childhood friend, the young Toufik (newcomer Mahmud Shalaby), a hard-working youth who has come as a helping hand to his Israeli-Arab father Hassan, a long-time mechanic working for Reuven.

Everyday life in Israel during the "Intifada": suicide-attacks, distresses, tensions. A director must present a new theater play but he just can't write a line. His partner, a documentary filmmaker, is preparing the portrait of a former soldier who opened a trade but went into bankruptcy. This man is ruined, his wife has left home, his son got exiled to Australia. The director, desperate, believes that hiring a private detective to follow his wife is gonna put some salt in his life. Without knowing it, the detective becomes the real director of the play which is getting written step by step.
