Soviet engineer Kuznecov is coming to Prague as an expert on work with the tunneling shield in construction of the metro. He is returning after more than thirty years. In May 1945 as a young soldier in the Red Army he was seriously injured in the liberation of Prague and while recovering experienced a great love with a young teacher called Vera.

It is the summer of 1968 and also in South Moravian Pálavice appear political clashes. The so far peacefully farming Unified farmers' cooperative starts splitting. Some of the farmers have found the cooperative called Vidrupa and want to deal with wine in private trade. Michal Janák, chairman of the farmers' cooperative is a deliberate man and refuses the latent return to the capitalism. As an excellent farmer he continues preparing planting out new vineyards. His adversaries do not agree - the returns will come many years later. Jozka Hrdlicka, an émigré, notices on the Austrian TV the interview with the representatives of Vidrupa and decides to visit his native village. The new suit and the hired car transform the bankrupt and criminal to the successful businessman with wine.

Cyril Dadák (Václav Postránecký), a TV reporter falls in love at first sight with a young engineer Milena (Jaroslava Obermaierová) while he makes a reportage in a chemical factory. Milena has been dating for several years with a test driver Pavel (Rudolf Jelínek), however when she meets Cyril she feels that he might be the Mr Right. She accepts Cyril's invitation for a date and she spends a night with him. In the morning she finds in her flat Pavel. She wants to explain to him everything but Pavel makes coffee with a smile and gives her back the keys from the flat.

Three Men Travelling is billed as a loosely related sequel to Tri chlapi v chalupe (1963), sending our country protagonists set out from their family nests in the village of Ouplavice into the big wide world. Grandpa Potucek, (Lubomír Lipský) and his son Václav (Jan Skopecek) take part in the cooperative's excursion to spa town Karlovy Vary, a Pilsen brewery and some agricultural enterprises in western Bohemia. During the course of a series of misunderstandings and merrymaking, grandfather Potucek decides he will not let problems with sick calves unsettle him, and that he will persevere in his role as the leader of the cooperative.

По одноименной новелле Ленки Гашковой. Директор большой электростанции Кудрна оказался на скамье подсудимых. Он и два его бывших подчиненных обвиняются в расхищении государственных средств. Оба бывших сотрудника Кудрны приписывали незаконные премиальные и брали часть себе. Кудрна не знал об этом. Выдавая рабочим как поощрение премии и награды, Кудрна смог быстрее закончить строительство и сэкономить обществу во много раз большую сумму, чем та, за которую его посадили на скамью подсудимых. Однако суд признает Кудрну виновным и приговаривает к трехмесячному заключению, которое тот уже отбыл в тюрьме во время следствия. Но сам Кудрна не согласен с решением суда, он считает себя невиновным.

О девочке Ленке, о ее любви к животным, особенно к норовистому коню по имени Прим, которого она спасает от тяжелого заболевания, даже подвергая свою жизнь опасности.
