It is the summer of 1968 and also in South Moravian Pálavice appear political clashes. The so far peacefully farming Unified farmers' cooperative starts splitting. Some of the farmers have found the cooperative called Vidrupa and want to deal with wine in private trade. Michal Janák, chairman of the farmers' cooperative is a deliberate man and refuses the latent return to the capitalism. As an excellent farmer he continues preparing planting out new vineyards. His adversaries do not agree - the returns will come many years later. Jozka Hrdlicka, an émigré, notices on the Austrian TV the interview with the representatives of Vidrupa and decides to visit his native village. The new suit and the hired car transform the bankrupt and criminal to the successful businessman with wine.

Йиржи Валенту, застенчивого банковского клерка и единственного сына своих сверхопекающих родителей, призывают в армию. В казарме его награждают нелестным прозвищем "щвея" ("портниха", чешск. "švadlenka") за то, что он посвящал свой досуг сшиванию ковриков. Однажды его друг Лукаш знакомит его с привлекательной Юлкой Вавровой. Наивный Йиржи влюблялется в девушку и принимает её приглашение съездить на праздник к родне. Там он узнаёт, что Юлка - мать-одиночка, имеющая маленького сына Мартинека, отец которого - женатый мужчина Валеш. Юлка, напрасно ожидавшая, что Валеш разведётся со свой женой и женится на ней, убеждает Йиржи взять её замуж. Йиржи, который привязался к Мартинеку, соглашается и признаёт мальчика своим сыном, чтобы положить конец деревенским сплетням о Юлке. Но впоследствии Юлка бросает их обоих и сбегает к Валешу. Йиржи, характер которого в армии закалился, по окончании службы возвращается домой вместе с мальчиком.

Marta (Jana Brejchová) and Viktor (Vlastimil Brodský) celebrate the tenth anniversary of their wedding half-heartedly. They both think they don't suit together. While visiting Marta's friend Alena (Iva Janzurová), who just got married for the third time, they learn an interesting thing. It was a computer which selected a husband for Alena and she claims she is happy. The couple gets off after certain hesitation to a cybernetic institute, where the computer tells them that living together is a risk for them. At the same time the computer selects them ideal partners - Mrs Tuchlová, a doctor for Viktor, and Petr Karát, a music composer for Marta. By a coincidence Viktor and Marta meet wrong people.

Около спасательной станции у вышеградского тоннеля, где упал в Влтаву автобус с иностранными учёными, за проявленное мужество право быть первым получает водолаз Алоиз Водичка. Дом Водички к тому же был снесён при посредничестве Доктора Мрачека. Следовательно, решено доктора Мрачека утопить.

Мачеха Золушки всеми силами хочет выдать свою глупую и злую родную дочь замуж за принца. Но тому совсем не хочется жениться, он ссорится с отцом и собирается покинуть дворец, но… в последний момент он влюбляется в очаровательную незнакомку в маске, которая быстро исчезает. Принц и не догадывается, что эта прекрасная девушка, ловкий стрелок, которого он встретил в лесу и озорная девчонка — одно и то же лицо. Все эти превращения оказались возможными благодаря волшебным орешкам, в одном из которых находился и свадебный подарок для Золушки.

Angelika, a ten years old daughter of a spa visitor Bachmann is terribly bored in Karlovy Vary spa. Her father enjoys different spa procedures, trying to lose some weight, but the little girl feels to be only waiting for something to enjoy. Moreover, she cannot speak any Czech unlike her father. Kája, a son of the hotel receptionist Vlasta, attempts to amuse her despite he cannot speak German. Both children make friends although there is the language barrier.

A fisherman saves Anada, a woman adrift, from drowning. He takes her to his home, and protects her. Eventually, she occupies a larger place than was to be expected. He commits adultery with her, but his own wife seems to be in love with the strange young woman.

Хозяин крематория женат на еврейке и имеет двоих детей. Дело имеет неплохой доход, и семья кажется прочной и преуспевающей. Но тут в Чехии воцаряется нацизм, что прибавляет работы крематорию. Мужчина рад засвидетельствовать нацистам свою преданность, но как быть с членами его семьи, принадлежащими отнюдь не к арийской нации?

A baleful limping man walks through Prague. He is Asmodeus (Juraj Herz), the fiend of lustfulness, entertaining himself by putting together by magic couples of lovers. He only fails at the swimming pool. Zuzana (Jana Sulcová), the good-looking blonde, ignores the men whom the devil foists off onto her. She loves Honza (Václav Neckár) and the boy shares her feelings. The fiend is annoyed by the couple and tries to provoke a row. He sends heavy rain to force them into a hotel and then warns Zuzana's father by phone, but the young lovers manage to get out in time. Then the obstinate Asmodeus takes Honza in his sleep to the Institute for Emotional Disorders, where he shows him the ugly sides of love - hysteria, voyeurism, fetishism, suicide attempts...
