Ete and Ali are discharged from the army. Since Ete knows that his wife is having an affair, he doesn't want to go home. Ali tries to persuade his friend to stand up for himself and to kick the other man out. But since Ete obviously lacks courage, Ali himself goes into action and gets rid of the rival lover. At first, Mary and Ete seem to reconcile, but repairing their marriage won't work.
The children of Herbert and Hella, two single train conductors, are going to vacation at Baltic Sea. Unfortunately the parents are to busy to go so the oldest sister is in charge.
House Keeper
The late summer of 1918. Paul, Willi and Heinrich from an age-old German town are good friends, although there is a great deal that divides them. Heinrich comes from an officer's family with an army tradition and is preparing to enter cadet college. Paul's father and grandfather are workers, and Willi, left to depend on himself, works as a hotel messenger. The last year of the war is hard for everyone, but while Paul and Willi know their own minds and do not hesitate to help the war fugitives Tony and Sepp, for Heinrich everything is more complicated.
An idealistic teacher is shocked to discover her pupils are already cynical and opportunistic. Her colleague soon grows resentful when she uses new and challenging techniques to help her students overcome obstacles.

На заводе Asta в Восточном Берлине учёный доктор Вагнер собирается сделать изобретение, крайне важное для экономики ГДР. Но решающий эксперимент проваливается. Его работой заинтересовались западные монополисты. С помощью своих агентов, ассистента профессора Неймана и его шофера Рюкерта, им удается оказать психологическое давление на доктора Вагнера, который бежит со своей семьей в Западный Берлин, чтобы «избежать ареста». В Западном Берлине доктора Вагнера используют для пропагандистской программы. И только с помощью молодого помощника Ханса Хеннинга, который влюблён в его дочь Инге, доктор Вагнер находит дорогу назад.
