The film is inspired by the real events – the story of Kati Andreevoj and Daria Chultsova – the two journalists from TV Belsat, an independent station broadcasting from Poland and their arrest by the Belarusian police in Minsk.

A group of friends are taking their kids to a traditional long weekend getaway on the Danish island of Bornholm, just like they did for many years. An incident between the children will spark a new crisis in their relationship. Each couple seems happy, but are they really? Maybe they’re just keeping up appearances?

События прошлого разделяют судьбы друзей. Неожиданно в жизнь Давида возвращается его бывшая возлюбленная, ныне опытная сотрудница полиции. Она предлагает парню выбор: или он станет осведомителем, или его брата посадят на длительный срок. Не имея выхода, Давид соглашается внедриться в организованную уголовную группировку.

Сочельник, где-то в восточной части Польши. Адам, молодой парень, работающий за границей, узнаёт, что скоро станет отцом. Он решает изменить свою жизнь. Хочет вместе со своей девушкой уехать из Польши и начать бизнес за границей. Адам приезжает к родным в провинцию, чтобы убедить их продать землю, которая является их единственным состоянием. Across the Border is a polyglot portrait of ideas about borders at the beginning of the 21st century. In an episodic journey five directors from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia, present their view and vision of nation, identity and Europe: By placing their personal cinematographic imprint on multifaceted portraits of their home countries, they open up a broad space for encounters with the strangers next door.
