21st Century Girl is an omnibus feature that is of the girls, by the girls and for the girls. The work of 15 women directors under the age of 30, each of whom contributed an 8-minute film, the package highlights a range of genres, visions and thematic concerns.

Rei is unable to express her opinions well due to her introverted nature. Her time with her boyfriend, NAKAMURA, is calm but nothing passionate. One night, Rei strongly wishes that she could meet her real father, who was separated from her at an early age by her parents’ divorce. From that night onward, introverted Rei’s heart burns with an enduring passion. Through conversations with her mother, complicated memories, dreams and her reunion with her father, Rei’s thoughts about her family are gradually revealed.

Kanegon, a 28 year old, moves into his abandoned school after returning to his hometown from Tokyo. He practices his table tennis skills everyday to fulfil his dream of joining the Bundesliga, a prominent table tennis league. His old classmates find out of his return and as they hang out together at school, they find where Kanegon is "now".
