In a groundbreaking project developed by MISCELLANEOUS Productions, a group of multi-barriered youth collaborated with a team of professional artists on POWER, an evening of solo performance pieces, ensemble drumming and dance numbers, all of which take a raw, honest look at the things that matter to youth in the community: power, racism, immigration, poverty, violence, sexism, addiction and love, presented at Vancouver’s Rhizome Café. This documentary focuses on four young artists -- Roberto, Natasha, Dakota, and Michael -- showing their struggles and their transformation through performance.

Sundance award-winning director Julia Kwan’s documentary Everything Will Be captures the subtle nuances of a culturally diverse neighbourhood—Vancouver’s once thriving Chinatown—in the midst of transformation. The community’s oldest and newest members offer their intimate perspectives on the shifting landscape as they reflect on change, memory and legacy. Sofia yearns to sing with the heartbreak voice of the ranchera singers she admires. One day, she receives an unexpected invitation to visit the mysterious "Paloma Negra" bar. There, she is shocked to see her favourite singer, Pieta, who had all but disappeared at the height of her career, singing to the sad souls in the bar. Sofia gathers her courage to sing for Pieta, only to be told that her voice is devoid of the suffering and heartbreak necessary to sing the songs. Determined to fill her voice with the necessary pain, she learns a hard, but valuable lesson about the reality of heartbreak.

This film tells the tale of young Wilma's romantic escapades with Christine, a woman from the "outside" world. Surrealistically set in the 1950s, the town of Eden is a place where the air is haunted with silence. Wilma has to choose whether to redeem herself in the eyes of her religiously obsessed brother James, her neurotic chain-smoking Mother, and her opprobrious Father, or escape Eden, a place where one can never feel quite clean enough.
