Urban, an orphan, serves a greedy master watchmaker as an apprentice. When Urban grows up, he falls in love with the watchmaker's daughter Laura and wants to marry her. Before this can happen, the master sends his apprentice out into the world with the task of looking for a mythical watch that can warn of death. No one knows if the watch even exists, but if Urban doesn't bring it back, Laura will never be his wife. The watchmaker's apprentice therefore sets out on a long journey full of hardships, which he must overcome with bravery, skill and a good heart.

In a small Czech town, mother dependent Robert, his attractive girlfriend Simona, histrionic Tomas and extremely reserved History freak Funes, all dissatisfied with their lives, are members of the same string Quartet. As they rehearse for their next concert, they will get into a circle of eccentric situations and misunderstandings.

Судьба юного Войты была заранее предопределена родителями. Отец видел в нем будущего чемпиона по плаванию, мать — пианиста-виртуоза. Планы эти не осуществились во всем блеске, зато человек вырос хороший и, подрастая, пережил немало интересного — как, впрочем, и все окружающие. Только в жизни Войты основную роль сыграла Эля, его рыжеволосая колдунья, его наяда.

Continuity
Чехословакия оккупирована немецкими войсками, а ее армия — расформирована. Несколько военных летчиков, однако, отказываются принять это как факт — и потому бегут из страны. Сначала в Польшу. Потом в Ливию. Оттуда — в Великобританию. Здесь их таланты оказываются востребованы — после недолгих тренировок герои попадают в Королевские Военно-Воздушные силы и вступают в противостояние с немецкими «хейнкелями» и «мессершмиттами».
