В объективе камеры Лени Рифеншталь оказалась Африка… Впервые Рифеншталь отправилась в Судан в возрасте 71 года. Она провела несколько месяцев в племени нубийцев, которые, как она утверждала, стали ее настоящими друзьями. Ее фотографии, которые впоследствии вышли отдельной книгой «Последние из нубийцев», буквально взорвали общественное мнение. Критики утверждали, что ее фотографии нубийцев продолжают традиции «Олимпии», пропагандируя культ тела, а чернокожих она снимает якобы потому, что черный — цвет нацистской формы! Но безумству критики Лени противопоставила профессионализм. И победила. Спустя почти тридцать лет, 98-летняя Рифеншталь снова едет в Судан, раздираемый гражданской войной, чтобы помочь своим друзьям. Благородная миссия превратилась в опасное приключение: буквально под огнем ее команда добиралась до отдаленных мест, где живет племя нубийцев.
