On the holidays, ten years old Adam and his little sister Otka, four years junior to him, travel from a village Vykán to their aunt to Prague. Their parents left for Hungary to the world championship in ploughing. The children have the address but they do not know the way to the Northern Town. They set out for a place on foot, across the historical parts of the town.

This film brings us back to show us the life of the famous ancient sage Aesop, who helped people with his wisdom in their struggle for freedom and happiness.

It is 5 May 1945 and the uprising against the hated German occupiers has broken out in Prague. The Czech guards open the gate of the Pankrác prison to allow the prisoners to escape en masse. Many of them are shot dead by the German guards but young Ruda (Jaromír Hanzlík) manages to run away. He is taken care of by one of the Prague fighters, concierge Kytka. Kytka hides him in the flat of the house's owner where only the young maid Karla (Jana Brejchová) is left, ordering her to take care of Ruda.

Honza Vavrinec (Rudolf Hrusínský) works in the investment department of a large office. One day he gets involved in the case of an unjustly convicted worker who mistakenly considers him a parliamentary deputy. Honza as a "deputy" interferes in the case and helps the worker. Encouraged by the success and possibly also out of love for the beautiful secretary Svatava (Blanka Bohdanová), the then shy and fearful Honza stands up for the chief of the department, Hofmánek (Ladislav Pesek), who has been removed from his position.

Three short story omnibus. The main hero and connecting link is Lieutenant Boruvka, created by Lubomír Lipsky. He deals with the murder case between climbers, the death of the dancer in the music theater and the strange disappearance of the mathematics professor.

All men flee in a hurry, only Ferdinand did not hear the messages and drives carelessly with his old car through the deserted city. When he meets three children, understands the situation and tries to escape, it's already too late. All find themselves inside a rocket and experience an exciting flight into space. Strange machines, robots and weird so many adventures waiting for the inhabitants of the earth. This film reuses sets from Polák's Ikarie XB 1 (1963).

На ракетном заводе в Страконице готовится к пробному полёту космический корабль. В предполётной суете выясняется, что командир корабля недоволен обивкой кресла. Рабочий-обивщик Йозеф отправляется исправлять свой брак. А в это время на космодроме оркестр в боевой готовности, на трибуне начальство с космонавтами, торжество в самом разгаре. Йозеф же размазывает клей по креслу, попивая пивко, как вдруг нога соскальзывает и он наступает на кнопку «Старт» на пульте управления. Бабах - и корабль отправляется вместе с Йозефом к звёздам. Начальство в панике, можно представить себе реакцию космонавтов, напрасно сидевших три подготовительных года на грибах и водорослях. "КТО ЭТО БЫЛ?!" - кричит главный начальник. Через 500 лет наш горе-космонавт возвращается на Землю в компании со сверхразвитым инопланетным существом и обнаруживает абсолютно новый, неузнаваемый и совершенный, утопический мир, изобилующий множеством технических приспособлений, облегчающих жизнь.

Хотя Тонда Майер был начинающим боксером, его огромный рост и незаурядная сила обеспечивали ему победу над противником. В концлагере, куда Тонда попал во время гитлеровской оккупации, он понял, что, только презирая опасность, можно остаться здесь человеком и помогать другим. Он назвал себя коммунистом, хотя никогда им не был. И когда Тонде грозила гибель, в дело вмешалась подпольная организация заключенных и спасла его от фашистской расправы.
