Жители Эрбиля находятся в постоянном страхе за свою жизнь и судьбу, ведь террористы осаждают Кобан и плотно обосновались в Шангале, бои происходят в нескольких десятках километров от столицы Курдистана. На фоне происходящего хаоса повстречались и полюбили друг друга пилот-самоучка Нариман и популярная певица Хелли. Нариман преподает в пилотной школе в Эрбиле, но после авиакатастрофы, случившейся с ним, он остается без ноги. Суеверные родители его учеников больше не доверяют ему, поэтому на его занятия приходят все меньше учеников. Хелли выросла в изгнании сначала в Иране и Турции, потом в Финляндии. Построив в Европе карьеру поп-певицы, она вернулась в родной Курдистан. Хелли и Нариман понимают, что в оцененном от страха и ужаса мире нет места для их романтического чувства, важнее помочь своему народу пережить ужасы войны. Оба начинают работать в лагере для беженцев.
