An experimental retelling of the story of Adam and Eve which then progresses into an allegorical depiction of the loss of innocence.

An artist's studio is descended upon by a group of retired men and a young mother who agree to model in the nude for money. Comedy ensues as the students and the local bureaucracy react to the models, all in need of extra money. Several running gags border on slapstick as the officials and the students don't know what to do with the nude models.

The exemplary accountant Antonín Safránek lives his orderly life as a citizen of a small town. His wife Eliska brings up their three children and desperately tries to get by on her husband's low salary every month. At the same time, she sadly watches the luxurious life of their neighbor and other people like him who have no qualms about improving their standard of living by cheating. One day, the infallible Safránek makes a mistake in the cash clearance and there are nine one-hundred Crown bills left in the safe. An unexpected company control carried out the next day passes without problems and the account is closed. The temptation is too strong. The insufficient control enables Safránek to gradually steal one million Crowns.

Tram driver Marie has far too much to do after her shift is over. But she likes to do it all since she loves her husband Václav sincerely. One day she spots him on the Lesser Town Square in Prague, kissing an attractive blonde good-bye. It seems to Marie that her small comfortable world has collapsed and she walks out of the tram in tears. But her sadness does not last long. She wipes off the tears and begins to act. She withdraws all the money from their savings books and buys off all the latest models from the Fashion Works. The visit to the beauty salon then completes her transformation into a lady.

Honza Vavrinec (Rudolf Hrusínský) works in the investment department of a large office. One day he gets involved in the case of an unjustly convicted worker who mistakenly considers him a parliamentary deputy. Honza as a "deputy" interferes in the case and helps the worker. Encouraged by the success and possibly also out of love for the beautiful secretary Svatava (Blanka Bohdanová), the then shy and fearful Honza stands up for the chief of the department, Hofmánek (Ladislav Pesek), who has been removed from his position.

Three short story omnibus. The main hero and connecting link is Lieutenant Boruvka, created by Lubomír Lipsky. He deals with the murder case between climbers, the death of the dancer in the music theater and the strange disappearance of the mathematics professor.

Действие фильма происходит весной 1918 года. Чехословацкие солдаты и офицеры, вернувшиеся из русского плена, размещены в казармах чешского городка Румбурка. Свой досуг военные проводят в местном мюзик-холле, где блистает дива по прозвищу «Полынь». В случае лояльности по отношению к австрийской армии им обещана спокойная тыловая служба. Внезапно приходит приказ отправиться на итальянский фронт. Солдаты недовольны. Чаша их терпения переполняется. Возвращаясь из плена в России, под влиянием Октябрьской революции, они знают, как что делать. Возникает стихийный протест, чехи идут на захват вокзала, почты, жандармерии, но мятеж жестоко подавлен австрийцами. Пять наиболее активных участников бунта казнены.

Славек и Ивана — молодая чета, с нетерпением ожидающая рождения ребёнка. Когда Славек отвёз Ивану в родильный дом, он очень беспокоился в течение дня о ней, о том, как пройдут роды. Воспоминания Иваны и Славека воскрешают историю их отношений с момента знакомства. Но вот раздался первый крик новорожденного. Славек и Ивана счастливы и в то же время обеспокоены — воспитание ребёнка накладывает на них большую ответственность...

На ракетном заводе в Страконице готовится к пробному полёту космический корабль. В предполётной суете выясняется, что командир корабля недоволен обивкой кресла. Рабочий-обивщик Йозеф отправляется исправлять свой брак. А в это время на космодроме оркестр в боевой готовности, на трибуне начальство с космонавтами, торжество в самом разгаре. Йозеф же размазывает клей по креслу, попивая пивко, как вдруг нога соскальзывает и он наступает на кнопку «Старт» на пульте управления. Бабах - и корабль отправляется вместе с Йозефом к звёздам. Начальство в панике, можно представить себе реакцию космонавтов, напрасно сидевших три подготовительных года на грибах и водорослях. "КТО ЭТО БЫЛ?!" - кричит главный начальник. Через 500 лет наш горе-космонавт возвращается на Землю в компании со сверхразвитым инопланетным существом и обнаруживает абсолютно новый, неузнаваемый и совершенный, утопический мир, изобилующий множеством технических приспособлений, облегчающих жизнь.
