Зима. Горная чешская деревня. Снег, санки, снежки, снежние крепости, скачки - благодать! Двое пацанов по прозвищу Рыжик и Мышонок соперничают за лидерство. Хозяин крематория женат на еврейке и имеет двоих детей. Дело имеет неплохой доход, и семья кажется прочной и преуспевающей. Но тут в Чехии воцаряется нацизм, что прибавляет работы крематорию. Мужчина рад засвидетельствовать нацистам свою преданность, но как быть с членами его семьи, принадлежащими отнюдь не к арийской нации?

A baleful limping man walks through Prague. He is Asmodeus (Juraj Herz), the fiend of lustfulness, entertaining himself by putting together by magic couples of lovers. He only fails at the swimming pool. Zuzana (Jana Sulcová), the good-looking blonde, ignores the men whom the devil foists off onto her. She loves Honza (Václav Neckár) and the boy shares her feelings. The fiend is annoyed by the couple and tries to provoke a row. He sends heavy rain to force them into a hotel and then warns Zuzana's father by phone, but the young lovers manage to get out in time. Then the obstinate Asmodeus takes Honza in his sleep to the Institute for Emotional Disorders, where he shows him the ugly sides of love - hysteria, voyeurism, fetishism, suicide attempts...

It is the summer holiday and little Mísa Horák has taken a few animals from the school's so-called "Corner of Living Nature" home to care for. But when he brings home two Angora rabbits, a starling, a little monkey, a tortoise and a small crocodile, his parents order him to take them away. He is helped by Káta, who offers to place the animals in the child's room of her family's apartment. Mísa leaves for her friend where the animals will hopefully be able to stay. Káta goes shopping. In the meantime, Káta's younger sister Minka wakes up and begins to play with the animals, who gradually run off in disarray.
