This musical comedy based on an opera by Jacques Offenbach incorporates a twist on the classic Greek myth: Orpheus, a music teacher at a girls’ school in the ancient Greek city of Thebes, actually does not miss his wife Eurydice that much – until the gods and Offenbach himself pressure him to retrieve her from Hades.

For some time now, the residents of the placid little village of Sonnenthal talk only about one topic: Football! The ambitious mayor wants to promote the Sonnenthal team to the district league at any price because this success would also boost his own popularity. But he did not expect the resistance of the new head of school, Barbara, who is heavily annoyed by the one-sided focus. To bring Sonnenthal′s men and the mayor in particular to their senses, Barbara sets up a women′s football team that soon turns out to be a serious competition for the men′s team.

К доктору Грюнерту, специалисту по электронике из ГДР, приезжает старый знакомый по войне. Оба тогда работали над морскими торпедами. Его бывший коллега хочет переманить Грюнерта в Скенектади, штаб-квартиру крупнейшей в Америке компании по производству электроники. Он пытается шантажировать Грюнерта предполагаемыми военными преступлениями, но быстро становится ясно, где находятся настоящие преступники: на влиятельных должностях в американской промышленности. Грюнерт недооценил беспринципность своего оппонента и пригласил его в уединенный загородный дом, чтобы прояснить дело. Министерство госбезопасности уже идет по следу и спасает инженера от того, чтобы действовать в одиночку.
