Submission Underground returns to Portland, Oregon with an eight-man absolute tournament featuring some of the top submission-only grapplers and jiu-jitsu players in the world. The winner of the whole tournament will receive a handsome cheque of $10,000 and a title shot at the champion Mason Fowler on July 18th. 2nd place will receive $5000 whilst 3rd place will receive $2500.
Submission Underground finally makes its 2021 debut today with Submission Underground 21. The card is headlined by the Submission Underground king and men’s champion Mason Fowler defending his belt against another SUG mainstay in “The Boogeyman” Richie Martinez. Both Martinez and Fowler won their most recent bouts by armbar in regulation at SUG’s last event, Submission Underground 20.
The submission grappling event created by Chael Sonnen, Submission Underground, returns for its 19th event and the final for 2020 with a barn burner of jiu-jitsu matches from Oregon. The line-up is peppered with UFC fighters including Donald Cerrone, Rafael dos Anjos, Felicia Spencer and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson amongst former fighters and Bellator standouts.
