Голубоглазый художник - явный альфонс и явная жертва своей изящной садистки-возлюбленной - не может сосредоточиться в сумасшедшем городе, требует себе творческой тишины и переезда в деревню. Однако дом, который ему готова купить любовница, тоже не сулит покоя: по нему бродит призрак некой девушки, некогда любившей всех мужчин в округе, потом якобы погибшей при налете немецкой авиации и теперь спустя годы начавшей преследовать нового жильца. Поскольку грань человеческой нормальности он явно перешел еще в городе, до полного психоза остается недолго и недалеко: творя очередной шедевр (неистово разбрызгивая краску, подобно Поллоку), юноша-художник благополучно сходит с ума.
