Первая «Белые ромашки», рассказывает о том, как польский священник спасает еврейского мальчика, уцелевшего после массового расстрела. Ещё одна киноистория «Безлюдье» — о влюблённом мальчике из гетто, который во что бы то ни стало должен принести полевые цветы своей возлюбленной. Третья новелла, «Предсказание кукушки», — об узнике, бежавшем из лагеря военнопленных. Бежавшем после того, как сосед по нарам сказал ему, что слышал, как во сне тот говорит на идиш.

Kaziuk, a stubborn peasant and his pregnant wife live in a backwood village, unaffected by the civilization. The village is once visited by a couple of wanderers, and strange things start to happen afterward. A new schoolteacher is sent to the area. She stirs erotic fantasies in Kaziuk. In a stir of frustration Kaziuk cuts down a family tree - a sacrilegious act in the eyes of his family. Going a step further and using a scythe for cutting the rye instead of a sickle brings the whole village against him.

A young man named Josef visits a dilapidated Sanatorium to see his father Jakob. On his arrival, a sinister doctor informs him that his father had stopped breathing but hasn't died yet, perhaps due to Josef's arrival which may have halted time in the sanatorium. Josef undertakes a strange journey through the many rooms of the sanatorium, each which conjures worlds composed of his memories, dreams and nightmares.

Молодого инженера Вита вызывают телеграммой к больному отцу, который до войны был владельцем стеклозавода. Теперь он живет с сестрой жены и экстравагантной дочерью Беллой. Вит приезжает со своим другом Мареком. Оказывается, что отец - не болен, просто хочет, чтобы сын вернулся, и унаследовал маленькую мастерскую елочных игрушек, и занялся семьей. Однако разговор с отцом не убеждает Вита остаться. Между Мареком и Беллой происходит близость. Марек, возмущенный позицией Вита, предлагает Белле уехать, но она не решается оставить отца. Марек уезжает, вскоре после него уезжает и Вит, не пожелав даже попрощаться с отцом.

A pastor studying folklore in remote parts of 19th century Lithuania is invited to stay with a young nobleman. His mother is sequestered and mad. It seems she has been attacked by a bear as a young wife and local peasants whisper the young man may be the son of a bear. A doctor, who treats the mother with old-fashioned remedies, reveals this to the pastor. Young nobleman's wife is found with a bite and the man has disappeared into the woods.

A retired police captain, Siwy, tells a reporter about his latest action, carrying on his own investigation into the mysterious death of a Eve Salm, a.k.a. Princess. She was a witness in a case where the defendant pled guilty and was sentenced to eight years in prison. Siwy doubts the defendant's guilt and risks his life to apprehend the real killer.

Based on the novel by Stanislaw Lem (Solaris). The main character, race car driver Ryszard Fox, is involved in many car accidents. After each car crash he gets a transplant for one or another internal organ. After a while there is a question: Who really is Ryszard Fox?
