Arrested while a student in university, Yusuf is released from prison after ten years. He returns home and is welcomed by his sick and elderly mother. Soon he will meet Eka, a beautiful Georgian girl who is a sex worker, and love becomes a final desperate attempt to grasp life and elude loneliness.

The documentary shot in a Laz village called M3’anu is about the lives of women living in the region. The documentary focuses on women who have a great endurance without being crushed under the heavy load they carry on their backs, the difficulties of living conditions and the heavy load brought by taking care of their families, nevertheless, they do not give up their songs and smile on their faces.

Johanna (Katharina Thalbach) has fled Nazi Germany to visit a friend in Finland, and from there she continues on to her friend's family's estate. Once at the estate, Johanna passionately argues with her friend's pro-Nazi brother and at the same time, falls for the second, good-looking brother who shares her own anti-fascist feelings. The two are soon engaged in an active sexual relationship that continues as they travel north to an Arctic port.

During the Vietnam War, lots of US soldiers fathered illegitimate children with women in Southeast Asia. They often grew up in orphanages, a fate shared by many of these so-called Amerasians. It is the questions of guilt, origin and homeland of these soldiers and children which the film pursues in a semi-documentary manner. In various conversations, GI and Vietnam veteran John Scott meets with people in Thailand who all have to struggle in their own way with the homelessness resulting from this past.

A woman meanders through the streets of Istanbul five years after the military coup. Something is amiss, and the air is filled with a strangeness that seems to plague everyone. Friendship, conversation, boredom, wonder and hopelessness lead the woman to head to the island in the hope of change. What is left after all these?
