Robert Westerholt and Sharon Janny the Nobility founded the Symphonic Metal band. Privately, the Dutch are a couple and have two children. The single Ice Queen brought them platinum and gold and helped in 2002 to international breakthrough. Characteristic of the band was initially the high vocals of frontwoman Sharon. Stylistically, the band started in Gothic Metal. With new sound, fast guitar riffs and guitar solos, Within Temptation has become a successful rock band. Also this year the band will carry their fans along again.

After their Top 10 album 'Hydra' and their sold out European arena tour, the band present another 'must have' product. The live DVD/Bluray/2CD features two of Within Temptation’s most talked about arena shows ever: the symphonic 'Elements' show from 2012 at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp celebrating the bands 15th anniversary and the final show of the 'Hydra' European tour in the Heineken Music Hall in May 2014. With more than 10 top 10 chart positions for the Hydra album and over 150,000 concert tickets sold in 2014, the band were also honoured with the 'Best Live Band' award by Metal Hammer.

Their most ambitious staging to date, Black Symphony is capturing a unique concert at Rotterdam's Ahoy Arena on February 7, 2008. Sold out months in advance, Within Temptation performed to 10,000 fans with the 60-piece Metropole Orchestra and a 20-voice classical choir, as well as on-stage stilt performers, costume changes, and an array of stunning pyrotechnic and lighting effects. Special guests include Keith Caputo (ex-Life Of Agony), Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering), and George Oosthoek (Orphanage)

Eight young people are challenged to survive a night in the dark woods where, according to a local legend, a sadistic killer wanders around. The live TV-show is well-prepared, with actors imposing as killers and fake ambushes all over the forest, but the silly game becomes deadly serious when the first contestant dies for real.

Within Temptation's tour DVD in support of their album, "The Silent Force." The Silent Force Tour is a double DVD which was released on November 18, 2005. In addition to the standard double DVD release, the deluxe edition includes a bonus CD. The main concert features the band playing at the Java-eiland, Amsterdam. Three songs that were performed at the concert were not included on the release ("Somewhere", "Enter" and "Running Up that Hill"). The song "World of Make Believe" was also scheduled to be played, but keyboardist Martijn Spierenburg felt "unprepared" to play this song live.
