The Summer Book tells the story of the relationship between Sophia, an eight-year-old girl who is growing up fast, and her grandmother, who is nearing the end of her life. They are spending time together with Sophia’s father, at the family summer house on a tiny unspoiled island in the Gulf of Finland. All three are coming to terms with the recent death of Sophia’s mother in very different ways.

An aspiring writer desperately seeks out his first novel to propel his career. His wife, the wealthy owner of an art gallery becomes suspicious of his endeavours and instigates a game of cat and mouse to unravel his secrets.

The Kingdom is the perfect blend of intense thriller and Shakespearean drama; Jo Nesbø’s version of Cain and Abel. It will challenge the viewer’s own perspectives on life choices, shame, inheritance, love, and destiny, in a way that forces you to realize that most people’s lives are different from what you might imagine. And as with all of life’s most difficult choices, there is no single right answer. The Kingdom is fundamentally about choices. What is right, what is wrong, what can you live with and how can you justify those choices to yourself.
