The lives of a Hassidic young man (Yoyli) and a Polish young woman (Mariola) intersect when they find themselves secluded in a car after he offers her a ride home. After scrubbing and scouring for a bit, and after observing a world that is completely foreign to her, Mariola succumbs to the toxic fumes of the cleaning agents and falls and faints. After regaining consciousness, she leaves the house in an angry huff. At the prodding of his sister and father, Yoyli goes out to find her and offer her a ride. She accepts not realizing the differences of their worlds that would place the two young people in a tense and heated situation that is never fully resolved.

The film is a stage play hybrid showcasing dark and absurd sketches based on contemporary Hungarian news of the 2000's with campy, senseless musical interludes in-between. Highly experimental in nature that - like Marmite - will split its' crowd into ones that'll love it and others that'll loathe it. There's no middle grounds here. The topics included are: The Hungarian Olympians' doping scandal, political terrorism, the national elections... and more.

Before Dawn has a single shot which is several minutes in length. Technically this is immaculate, visually it is stunning. The story is set in a field; where the field is we don't know, but a lone truck drives up into the field and stops. A horn beeps and from beneath the long grass thirty of so people appear and proceed to enter the truck. We take it they hiding from something and this is their doorway. The truck leaves, but only to be greeted by a mass of police and even a helicopter blocking their path.
