The 16th film in the Troublesome Night series brings back regulars Simon Lui, Helena Law Lan, Tong Ka-Fai and Ronnie Cheung Ho-Lung in a story that takes place in the Sung Dynasty. There, they encounter the characters of the famous Chinese Story "The Water Margin," a story that takes place about a thousand years ago in ancient China involving a cruel government, con artists, a beautiful but crafty village girl and a sword-wielding martial artist trying to overcome all the adversaries.

This sequel to "Pandora's Box" continues director Jeffrey Lau's adaptation of the Buddhism saga "Journey to the West". Stranded five centuries in the past, Joker Monkey King must battle a variety of monsters, seductive women and super-powered villains to save the dying Pak Jing-Jing.

When the Goddess of Happiness tosses the Longevity Monk and his disciples out of heaven (because the Monkey King tried to attain immortality), the Monkey King is reincarnated as the Joker. Xi ordered Wu to suppress and kill Ren's family, and Wu to avoid killing Zhongliang by mistake, but he openly disobeyed the order, thus incurring the disaster of exterminating the family. Wu's wife Ao Xue (played by Lan Jieying) was brutally murdered, and Wu Sui and her young son wandered around the world. Sado (played by Yin Yangming), the governor of the imperial court, was ordered to hunt down the five fathers and sons. Although the five and many cherished each other, the two still could not escape a life-and-death battle in the end...
