Sinopsis
Reconstrucción de los últimos días de Marilyn Monroe a través de las cintas grabadas por su psicoanalista Ralph Greenson, la última persona que la vio con vida. Durante sus últimos años, la actriz se sometió a sesiones de psicoanálisis en la consulta de Greenson, uno de los psicoanalistas más famosos de Hollywood. Las cintas desvelan aspectos importantes de la vida de la actriz como su fascinación por directores de cine como George Cukor y John Huston, escritores como Truman Capote o Arthur Miller, y políticos como J. F .Kennedy.
Después de haber pasado tres años en un centro psiquiátrico, Jack Andrus, un actor acabado, vuela a Roma invitado por Maurice Kruger, un director amigo suyo, que le ofrece cinco mil dólares y un pequeño papel en una película que está rodando en los estudios de Cinecittà.
