Sinopsis
Reunión de dos alpinistas de fama mundial, uno, alpinista experimentado, el otro un escalador deportivo.Un periodista (Ivan) les reta a una apuesta sobre cuál de los dos es el mejor escalador. Roger (el experto en alpinismo) afirma que Martin (el escalador deportivo) no sobreviviría un día en una expedición de escalada 'real', aunque se le considera el mejor escalador deportivo del mundo (acaba de ganar un 'campeonato mundial' de interior). Planean escalar 'Cerro Torre', en la región de Patagonia de América del Sur, cerca de la frontera argentino / chilena, una de las montañas más difíciles del mundo, especialmente teniendo en cuenta las condiciones climáticas extremas comunes en la zona.

On their way a black American pilot, who jumped of a shoot-down plane, joins them. Although American planes have killed the boy's parents, he accepts the pilot with enthusiasm. The children communicate with him in German and the valley of peace seems like the last paradise place of refuge. The Slovene boy, the German girl, and the American pilot represent a symbolic triangle of peace in this adventure happening in the middle of the War of Liberation.
