With all the unrest and uncertainty in the world today, now feels as good a time as any for a movie portraying good will and love between people from opposing countries. The film is a love story set in the city of Matsuyama in Ehime Prefecture on the Japanese island of Shikoku against the historical backdrop of the Russo-Japanese War. The movie is centered around the romance between a Russian officer, a war prisoner in Matsuyama, and a Japanese nurse who find themselves on opposing sides of the war. It is a kind of "Romeo and Juliet story of the Russo-Japanese War".

The story is set in the early 21st century with the population decimated by bio terror. Two kinds of humans now exist. One is the Nokusu who were infected with a virus but survived and consequently they carry an antibody. Most are young, healthy and have high intelligence, but they have a high sensitivity to ultraviolet rays and are active mostly during the night. The other group are the Kyurio. They survived by never having the virus. The Nokusu discriminates against the Kyurio. Tetsuhiko Okudera is a Kyurio. He was born in a poor village. He isn't happy with being a Kyurio and wishes he could be a Nokusu. Yui Ikuta is Tetsuhiko’s childhood friend. She tries to revive the poor village.

Desaparecido en el mar, a Yusuke, marido de Mizuki, se le había dado por muerto durante 3 años. De repente, un día vuelve a casa y le pregunta a Mizuki si quiere ir de viaje con él. El trayecto consistirá en ir visitando a todas las personas que ayudaron a Yusuke en su viaje anterior, aquel en el que se le dio por muerto. Mientras viajan juntos, Mizuki siente en primera persona todo lo que Yusuke hizo en esos tres años.

"Fish Story" se centra en una banda de rock de 1975 que decide separarse debido a que no tuvieron éxito y graban una última canción antes de que todos tomen caminos distintos. Décadas más tarde aquella canción tendrá un profundo efecto en la vida de la gente
