El agente de la agencia antidroga (DEA) Shane Tanner, estando de incógnito en Nueva York, se entera de que a su tío Nate Tanner le han dado una paliza porque no quería vender el Pelícano Negro, su bar en Tyree, Louisiana. Shane decide entonces ir a Louisiana para averiguar quién atacó a Nate. Además se encarga de llevar el Pelícano Negro en ausencia de Nate. Allí se entera de que Wild Bill quiere comprar el Pelícano Negro ya que está situado en una ubicación privilegiada, cerca de la frontera, está entre Florida y Texas, para el tráfico de drogas.. Pero Shane no quiere vender, a ningún precio.
