Unos días antes de Navidad, Matthias vuelve a su pueblo natal, una localidad multiétnica de Transilvania, tras dejar su trabajo en Alemania. Está preocupado por su hijo, Rudi, que ha crecido sin él, y por su padre, Otto, que se había quedado solo, y desea volver a ver a Csilla, su exnovia. Based on an idea by Eisenstein, who dreamt of composing the 101 poses of Robert Macaire – a popular French character epitomizing the unscrupulous swindler – as represented in the 101 lithographs of the series Caricaturana by Honoré Daumier. First, a montage of the gestures as Eisenstein envisaged. Then, original texts are added to the caricatures. And finally, we took the liberty to use them as a commentary to some current news.

In 1981, chalk slogans written in uppercase letters started appearing in public spaces in the Romanian city of Botoşani. They demanded freedom, alluded to the democratic developments taking place in Romania’s socialist sister countries or simply called for improvements in the food supply. Mugur Călinescu was behind them, who was still at school at the time and whose case is documented in the files of the Romanian secret police. Theatre director Gianina Cărbunariu created a documentary play based on this material.

Este documental de observación sigue los acontecimientos tras la tragedia que tuvo lugar en el Colectiv Club de Bucarest el 30 de octubre de 2015, un incendio en el que murieron 65 jóvenes y decenas resultaron heridos. La tragedia provocó protestas públicas contra la corrupción y la dimisión del Gobierno.

Gabriel entra al campus del seminario en los años 90, cuando Rumanía se debatía entre continuos problemas económicos para consolidar la transición hacia la democracia. En este contexto, hacerse cura, líder de la comunidad, es visto como un trampolín para el futuro: la gente no deja de nacer, casarse y morirse y el sacerdote no deja de recibir su parte con cada servicio. Gabriel deberá hacer frente a una gran presión, fruto del programa tanto como de la influencia del Padre Ivan. Los planes y la falta de escrúpulos del Padre Ivan serán un tormento constante para Gabriel y sus compañeros.
