Sao Paulo, Brazil. Isabel, a 25-year-old girl, is kidnapped. The first ATM the criminals try to withdraw money from is broken. It's almost 10:00pm. The kidnappers realize they will not be able to get to the next one on time. What was meant to be an express kidnapping becomes an all-night imprisonment.

Cafundó is a 35 mm color film which blends fact with fiction in the life of João de Camargo, a former black slave (1858-1942, Sorocaba, Brazil) who, in his old age, works miracles and devotes himself to assisting others in order to attain his freedom. João de Camargo represents the genesis of religious and cultural syncretism in Brazil.

En la prisión se encontró con cientos de convictos bajo condiciones infrahumanas hasta el punto culminante de 1992 cuando una revuelta provocó el asesinato de 111 hombres.

Cansado de los errores cometidos por la humanidad, Dios (Antônio Fagundes) decide irse de vacaciones a las estrellas. Pero para eso, necesita que un santo se ocupe de sus deberes, mientras esté ausente. Decide procurarlo en Brasil, país muy religioso pero que nunca tuvo un santo reconocido oficialmente. El guía de Dios en Brasil será Taoca (Wagner Moura), astuto gomero y pescador que ve en ese encuentro inesperado la oportunidad de resolver sus problemas materiales. Luego, se junta a los dos la solitaria Madá (Paloma Duarte), una joven arrebatada por una gran pasión. Desde la costa de Alagoas al interior de Tocantins, pasando por Pernambuco, Taoca, Madá y Dios viven diferentes aventuras, mientras buscan a Quinca das Mulas (Bruce Gomlevsky), el candidato de Dios a santo brasileño.

Basada en hechos reales, cuenta la historia de "Uma onda no ar", radio que surgió en los suburbios de Belo Horizonte en los años 80. La acción comienza con una redada policial. Mientras los narcotraficantes huyen o camuflan su mercancía, una radio pirata avisa a los moradores de las favelas para que se protejan. El objetivo de la policía no es el tráfico de drogas sino localizar y callar la voz de la radio pirata: la voz de la favela.

Godofredo suffers a terrible blow when he comes back home earlier than usual and finds his wife in the arms of his partner. He sends his wife away to a coast town and dares his rival to a duel. But he begins to miss his wife and the company of his friend.

A young girl named Marcela lives with her dad, Jose, a lighthouse keeper, and old Daniel on an island. The only contact the girl has with the world outside her home is by a boat with four sailors that pays a visit to the island in order to take them supplies. Daniel, who not only protects her from her dad's strictness but also teaches her how to be literate, is her source of tenderness. Her dad thinks she should be away from the world - though she wishes she could spend a few days in town. Then one day, as she has her first period and becomes a woman, she starts feeling sexuality through the blowing wind, which she talks to.

The real story of Carlos Lamarca, a captain who, during the military dictatorship in Brazil, deserted Brazilian Army and got involved in left-wing guerilla groups, becoming one of their most prominent leaders.
