Transcurre el año 1330 antes de Jesucristo. En Tebas, Sinhué el egipcio cuenta su vida. Abandonado al nacer en las aguas del Nilo, es recogido por un matrimonio que lo adopta como hijo. Así, cursa estudios de medicina, profesión de su padre adoptivo y hace amistad con Horemheb, el hijo de un quesero.
