En París, las cosas no comienzan bien para Yoav. un joven israelí que llega a la capital francesa con grandes expectativas, decidido a deshacerse de su nacionalidad lo más rápido posible. Para él, ser israelí es como un tumor que debe ser extirpado. Convertirse en francés, por otra parte, simplemente significaría su salvación. Para borrar sus orígenes, Yoav primero decide no hablar una sola palabra de hebreo. El diccionario se convierte en su mejor compañero. Las visitas a la embajada israelí le molestan. Pero el proceso también tiene sus trampas. Y la joven pareja francesa de la que se hace amigo tiene algunas ideas bastante extrañas sobre cómo ayudarlo...
