Basada en hechos reales, la película se centra en la historia de amor del conocido filósofo Ken Wilber (Townsend) y su esposa Treya (Suvari) en la década de 1980 en California. Ambos se enamoraron locamente al tiempo que se enfrentaron a una grave enfermedad y a diversos desafíos que amenazaban con destrozarlos.
