Cuatro excombatientes afroamericanos - Paul (Delroy Lindo), Otis (Clarke Peters), Eddie (Norm Lewis) y Melvin (Isiah Whitlock, Jr.) - regresan a Vietnam en busca de los restos del jefe de su escuadrón, caído en combate (Chadwick Boseman), y la promesa de un tesoro escondido.
