Masao es un niño de nueve años al que le toca pasar las vacaciones de verano con su abuela; así que se acabaron los partidos de fútbol, ya que todos sus amigos se han marchado a la playa. El aburrimiento de Masao es tal que se le ocurre la idea de buscar a su madre, a la que nunca ha visto.
