Anna lleva siete años en prisión por el asesinato de su marido, un hombre violento que la maltrataba. Presa modelo, tras la muerte de su madre, consigue un permiso de tres días para asistir a su funeral en Seattle. En el autobus rumbo a su destino, un desconocido llamado Hoon le pide el dinero que le falta para comprar el billete. Por su parte, Hoon –un inmigrante coreano que se gana la vida como gigoló– está intentando escapar de un marido celoso que ha decidido darle caza. Aislados y acechados por una terrible soledad, ambos se convierten en compañeros de viaje. A medida que se van conociendo, algo inesperado surge entre ambos.
