Dos chicos recorren las carreteras de Estados Unidos en un polvoriento Chevrolet del 55 y compiten en carreras ilegales. Eso es lo único que les importa, ni hablan ni se divierten. Un día se cruza en su camino GTO, un peculiar conductor que los desafía. Fue un fracaso comercial, pero se convirtió en película de culto como otras road-movies de la época (“Easy Ryder”, por ejemplo).
